the last blooms of summer

 

I am enjoying these lovely blooms as they will be our last until spring. The mornings and evenings are now crisp and quite chilly. I suspect a frost will appear any night now. I am gathering firewood for the winter and have many more trips left into the woods. I cannot wait to sip piping hot tea by the wood stove with knitting needles in hand.

I have become a bit obsessed with lace yarns. The light pink baby alpaca yarn above is on my needles as we speak. It is a cloud of softness & will be so cozy to wear come Autumn.

The raspberries have been picked and frozen for winter treats.  We have been out picking huckleberries every morning this week. Huckleberry pie is so so good. It is right up there with my all time favorite rhubarb & strawberry.
